The geography of the international search works includes the countries of Europe - Germany, Poland, Hungary and CIS – Russia ("Luban" International Watch which being held in Leningrad region for 20 years, the first сommon search Watch in Chechnya, the International Memory Watch near Smolensk) and Belarus (Memory Watch near Vitebsk, on the banks of the Luchosa River, international Memory Watch in Brest, on the territory of the Brest fortress).

Among the search events taken place in Ukraine, one would like to mention Memory Watch at Sofiyivska elevations in Dnipropetrovsk Region, "Mius-front" International Search Expedition on the territory of Saur-Mohila Kurgan in Donetsk, Memory Watch in Uman, "Cheremkha-2013" International Humanitarian Search Expedition, "The Carpathians-2017" International Search Expedition (dedicated to the centenary of the First World War), "Heirs of Victory" Search Watch in Odessa, "Memory is alive!" For 5 years of its work by the search organizations, which are in the staff of Union People's Memory, there have been found and decently perpetuated the remains of 6136 servicemen, 738 civilians, 1965 victims of political repression.

There were established the names of 902 servicemen, found 90 families that received a piece of note about the fate of their relatives after 70-100 years.

Thanks to the work of searchers, the land of Ukraine was freed from 52 543 explosive objects remained from that war.

The museums of our country were handed over about 24 704 exhibits, several thousand unique documents of our history.

There was organized the permanent work of hotline – 0-800-210-135, which receives calls from eyewitnesses and witnesses of possible burial sites related to the tragic events on our long-suffering land. Information is promptly worked out by our partners on the ground. This gives confidence that all the names one managed to regained from oblivion will be saved for our history and the memory of our descendants.

For the past two years one managed to create a multifunctional database that is currently under active filling. It allows to automatically keep records of all information received on the possible places of loss of aerial vehicles, combat vehicles and previously unknown burial places of victims of war crimes and political repression, and to make already obtained results of the conducted search works.  According to this principle, there was a unique automated platform on the basis of the data obtained in the course of conducting "Black Tulip" Humanitarian Mission. The accumulated information in it is exceptional in our country and has repeatedly helped the services, engaged in the search process and identification of missing people, to obtain the necessary additional information.

Initiatives and projects of NGO Union People's Memory

Anyone, who remembers and respects the exploits of their grandfathers and great grandfathers, was suggested during the preparation and celebration of the Victory Day to fasten the corresponding symbol a "memory tape" or a flower folded out of it. Also, in the framework of this campaign, there are held exhibitions, round tables and conferences. So, 22 Jun 2015 – was organized and held a round table on the topic "Ukraine's losses during the Second World War: statistics, truth, myths" which was participated in by leading scientists, researchers, and historians.

Also, there is implemented an international project "Bell of Memory" initiated and supported by the searchers of Union People's Memory NGO.

From colored metal and brassy shell casings since the time of the Second World War one plans to cast a symbolic bell and the base of the monument from black metal. By the searchers of Union People's Memory NGO there have already been gathered more than 3,500 kg of brass.

During the annual all-Ukrainian campaign "Save memory!", which is traditionally held from the 20th of April till the 8th of May, there were put in order about 30 military memorials. It is participated in by about 2000 volunteers, it is mostly young people who are not indifferent to their country's history; the youngest participant, who worked hard together with everybody, was 5.
