Press release of the opening of the exhibition "Ukrainian East"
On February 17th, 2017 at 11a.m. in the introductory hall of the main exposition of the National Museum of History of Ukraine in the Second World War (27 Lavrska Str.) will take place opening of the exhibition "Ukrainian East" and meeting with its heroes and their families.
This is the second museum project that covers the war in the East of Ukraine. The first one, "Ukraine. Realities of modern war", consisted of ten exhibitions. For two and a half years the museum staff has collected more than 4 thousand authentic museum objects. Half of them will be exhibited for the first time.
Structurally, the exhibition consists of stories about the participation of various military formations, volunteer battalions in the armed hostilities in the East of Ukraine during 2014-2017. Also, in symbolic battalions there are united chaplains, doctors, volunteers, military journalists. In gratitude for the fraternal help "foreign legion" in which our land protect the Belorussians, the Georgians, the Chechens and the representatives of other nations.
The Central composition – "Way of the Cross" – represents the bloody price paid by the Ukrainian people for the right to live freely on their land. It is based on the ambulance of the 17th battalion of the 57-th separate motorized infantry brigade. Together with the soldiers it has been in "hot spots" of Lugansk and Donetsk Regions, saved hundreds of wounded and took out the bodies. Next there are bloody clothes of the Heroes of Ukraine fallen in 2014: general-major Sergey Kulchytskiy, sergeant Oleg Mickhnyuk and the materials of deceased this winter Hero of Ukraine, captain Andrey Kizil, reconnoiterer Leonid Provodenko, medical instructor Natalia Khoruzhaya, sergeant Vladimir Kryzhanovskiy etc.
In the prologue to the exhibition there are collections of flags and chevrons handed over to the museum directly by participants.
Project partners are a team of journalists from TSN of 1+1 TV channel and the volunteers of "Black Tulip" Humanitarian mission.
