Reburial of two unknown defenders of Poltava Region
September 12th, 2017 in Snityn village (Lubny district, Poltava Region) there took place the reburial of the remains of two servicemen of the Red Army found by the searchers of Memorial NGO (Union People's Memory NGO) during the field trips to the outskirts of the village.
Representatives of local authorities and public organizations, масс media, veterans, schoolchildren, residents of Snityn, clergy came on this September warm day to the monument to the fallen warriors of the Second World War to accompany to the last journey the unknown soldiers who once defended Poltava Region from the fascist invaders.
After the memorial service and solemn reburial, the searchers visited the local school, where they told the children about the Second World War, story of two found soldiers; current war and the work of "Black Tulip" Humanitarian Mission which is implemented by Union People's Memory NGO...
And maybe the pupils did not fully realize what exactly the searchers wanted to convey to their bright heads, but the subject of war has definitely touched their young hearts and certainly made for a little while to think about the concepts of honor, Motherland and heroism.
So, that's how passed the day of reburial of two Soviet soldiers who found their final resting place in the land of Lubny district. Eternal memory to the deceased.
Union People's Memory All-Ukrainian Public Organization was established in 2011 by uniting 21 organizations of searchers from 22 regions of Ukraine who work in the legal field and deal with the issues of search and reburial of the fallen soldiers of the First and Second Word Wars, victims of political repression and civil conflicts, restoration of military-memorial objects and patriotic education of youth.
For the period of its work Union People's Memory NGO conducted and participated in 374 search expeditions, 26 of them were international and 47 interregional.
There were found and decently perpetuated the remains of 6136 servicemen, 738 civilians, 1965 victims of political repression.
There were established the names of 902 servicemen, found 90 families that received a piece of note about the fate of their relatives after 70-100 years.
Thanks to the work of searchers, the land of Ukraine was freed from 52 543 explosive objects remained from that war. The museums of our country were handed over about 24 704 exhibits, several thousand unique documents of our history.
There was organized the permanent work of hotline – 0-800-210-135, which receives calls from eyewitnesses and witnesses of possible burial sites related to the tragic events on our long-suffering land.
Since 2014 Union People's Memory NGO started the implementation of "Black Tulip" Humanitarian Mission, that is, search and exhumation of the bodies of the Ukrainian servicemen deceased in the ATO zone. For today "Black Tulip" has worked through about 100 settlements and geographical points in the ATO zone, discovered and handed over to the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies the bodies of 826 conflict victims. The project is implemented with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
